Happy fourth of July from Italy! So today was fun! Oh and crazy! So Erica and I have a hard time waking up to alarm clocks and we didn't wake up this morning so Jeanette came and rang our doorbell and knocked and woke us up and we put on clothes brushed our teeth and ran out the door! But we made it in time! So we went to the Vatican today! So cool! We went into the Vatican museum which is where the monks used to live. In it there were tapestries and statues and paintings of maps on the walls and other paintings on the ceilings. At the end of the museum was the Sistine chapel! So we got to see the creation of man painting on the ceiling by Michelangelo! And there were other paintings that went along with it! It was so cool! There is also a huge painting called The Judgment Day on one of the walls, also by Michelangelo! It was so awesome! After that we went to the St. Peter's Basilica! Wow that was so amazing! I can’t believe how big it is! It really was so awesome! We also got to take an elevator to a balcony in the inside of the dome and look down at it! Wow! Then we climbed up the rest of the way to the very top of the dome that was outside and got the coolest view of Rome! It was amazing! We could see out forever! Then after we did that we had free time so we walked around and had lunch. How crazy is it that I’m roaming Rome! :) It still baffles my mind! So yeah we did that and walked around into some fun shops. Then made our way to the Pantheon! It's just in the middle of a bunch of buildings! I didn't expect that. While we were there we sat down for a bit and then they were going to hold mass so we decided to stay. We went to mass in the Pantheon! It was very interesting. It definitely had a very different feeling to it. It was all in Italian so we couldn't understand it. It would have been interesting to have understood it. That was the first time I've seen a mass. But yeah so it's been a fun and very neat day!
