We went to Versailles today!! Wow! It was so cool! We got there and met our tour guide, Sid. He was an interesting fella! When he turned around we noticed that he had a small braid going from the middle, back of his head going down into his shirt! Gross! It makes me wonder how long it really is! English was not his first language so the way he pronounced things was funny to listen to! He sure made for an entertaining tour! Versailles was amazing though! It is the home of Marie Antoinette, Louis the 16th, 15th, 14th, and 13th! It is decked out! There is gold leafing everywhere! The ceilings are covered in paintings and sculptures. The walls are covered in wood, marble, and upholstered. There are tapestries and paintings and mirrors on the walls with elaborate frames. The chairs, sofas, benches, beds, tables, lights, everything are all very elaborate too. They sure liked to show their status! The place is huge too! And the grounds go on forever! There are even more houses on the grounds too! They were so fun to see! They have houses for all of the gardeners and a dairy, a mill, a brewery, and places to fish. Marie Antoinette didn’t like to stay in the main palace so she had her own mansion that she would spend the days in with her kids and then go back to the palace at nights. It was so incredible to see it all! I loved it! We were there a good amount of the day then headed back to our hotel for a while. Then when it was getting dark we went back to the Eiffel Tower and went to the top! We decided that we’ve had enough stairs to last the rest of the summer so we took the elevator to the top! It was amazing! Oh I loved it! The view was incredible! We wanted to see Paris at night since we had seen it a few times during the day already! It was Erica, Courtney Morrison, Becky Kendricks and I that went together! It really was so fun! It was pretty chilly and windy but it made for an adventure! And really the view was so awesome! We were so high! Oh it really was so much fun to do that! What a great way to end a great day!
